Music is Gerrit Glaner’s "Vitamin M" and it is no coincidence that his professional life has encompassed it in many ways, following a relentless goal focusing on conveying the joy of music and supporting the young generation.

As Head of the Concert and Artist Department of Steinway & Sons, he manages the artistic affairs with artists, concert organisers and festivals. At international music competitions, he is well known as leader of the Steinway delegations and from time to time also as a member of juries. He conceived the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network which facilitates concerts for prizewinners of piano competitions at international venues. He is a recording  producer for Spirio, the player piano of Steinway & Sons.

Earlier in his career he made music documentaries and live productions for TV. At EMI and Universal Music he was producer of CD’s and special editions and cooperated with the media.

At the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, he introduced and established the Masterclasses. Many of the participants from those early years are now leading musicians of today.

During his studies of musicology, he was an author of program notes for the NDR Sinfonieorchester, and as bartender at the legendary Hamburg jazz club “Birdland” he encountered numerous eminent jazz musicians.

Gerrit Glaner is a current member of the Symphonic Choir, Hamburg, and clarinetist in the orchestra The Management Symphony.

He lives with his family in Hamburg.
