Martha Argerich and Maria Solozobova invited cellist Meehae Ryo to MAGG Tonhalle in Zurich, Swiss to perform Mendelssohn Trio and had a successful concert in May 2018.

Deutsche Gramophone Recording Artist Ms. Meehae Ryo’s breathtaking technical virtuosity and captivating melody puts her as the most recognized cellist in the Republic of Korea. She endeavors to play music which makes both herself and her audiences happy.  Not only is she a beloved cellist, but she is also determined to train pupils by sharing her experiences and skills.

    Meehae had her first cello lesson at age of six. After she won many of national competitions, her ambition to study abroad at early age, she asked her parents to search for a school which could provide the best educational background to prepare her to become a true musician for inside and outside.  She accepted a place at Juilliard School when she was sixteen and then finished her studies with DMA degree at the University of Michigan in the USA.

    Meehae’s passion for music is enough to make her as one of the most preferred cellist by numerous orchestras. These include: the Wiener Concert Verein ( Wiener Symphoniker Kammer Orchester), Berliner Symphony Orchestra, , Zagreb philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Belgrad Philharmony Orchestra, Nuernberger Symphoniker, Toronto Philharmonia, Hongkong Philharmonic Orchestra, Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra, Kaerntner Symphony Orchestra, the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Hradec Kralove Philharmony, Madeira Classical Players in Portugal, Kazakhstan National Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra and Seoul Classical Players.

    In July 2013, Meehae and Albena Danailova, who is the first female concertmaster in the history of the Vienna Philharmony Orchestra, were invited to play Brahms Double Concerto at Cesky Krumlov Music Festival, and their stage was broadcasted live on the Czech National Broadcast. General Manager of Budapest Symphony Orchestra MAV was very happy of this concert and sent to Meehae a invitation to perform once again in Abonoment program of Budapest Symphony Orchestra with concert master of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Mr. Andreas Buschatz Brahms double concerto for violin, cello and orchestra on 10th. October 2014 in Liszt Hall, Budapest.

    Meehae has performed in the most well-known concert halls, including Musikverein Golden Hall, Verdi Hall, Hercules Hall, Smetana Hall, Dvorak Hall, Liszt Hall, Carnegie Hall, Auditorium della conciliazione  and Berliner Philharmonie Hall.

    Meehae’s first recording was with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under maestro Vladimir Valek as the conductor; it was a commemoration album of Schumann’s 150th death by Sony Classic. In 2013, she recorded Saint-Saëns and Elgar cello concerto with Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra , which is released by Deutsche Gramphone.

    She is regularly invited to be the jury of numerous international competition, such as Beethoven International Cello competition, Janigro International Cello competition(2016), Khachaturian International Cello competition (2018), and Riga Strings Classic competition(2018). In addition, she is participating in Vienna Strings International Competition in May 2019,  Osaka International Competition in October 2019, Belgrade Cello competition 21-30 March 2020, second time invited to Janigro international cello competition in Zagreb (2-6.2.2020)

    Meehae does not limit herself as a concert cellist, she was also one of most respected professor in Republic of Korea.  Based on her personal experiences, she not only teaches them techniques needed to play cello, but also about life as a cellist.  She has been invited to give master classes in some of the most renowned music schools such as Vienna University, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Kazakhstan Conservatory of Music.  She plays on a Storione Cello.

Anna Malikova

PIANO

was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she received her first piano lessons with Tamara Popovich. She studied in Moscow with Lev Naumov at the Central Music School and at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, from where she graduated in 1991. Afterwards she held herself a teaching position at the Conservatory for several years. Accordingly her career started in the former Soviet Union: she gave solo recitals in cities like Moscow, St Petersburg, Omsk, Baku, to name only a few, and had appearances with orchestras like in Ekaterinburg, Minsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and Tashkent.
