Alexey
Shor

Alexey Shor was born in Kiev and now lives in the USA.

His compositions have been performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls, including Wiener Musikverein, Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center (Washington DC), Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Mariinsky Theatre (St. Petersburg), Kremlin Palace (Moscow), Gasteig (Munich), Wigmore Hall (London), Teatro Argentina (Rome) and many others. Concerts with his music have been broadcast on MediciTV, Mezzo and Euronews. The Overture to his ballet “Crystal Palace” was performed at the 40th Gramophone Classical Music Awards ceremony in London.  In 2018 he has been awarded an honorary professorship at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.

Mr. Shor’s scores are published by Breitkopf & Hartel and P.Jurgenson.

The Medici.tv have created a documentary film about Shor on the occasion of Images from Great Siege world premiere—an orchestral work performed by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and Armenian State Symphony Orchestra ASSO under the baton of Sergey Smbatyan during the Malta International Music Festival 2018. The film includes fascinating interviews with Shor himself, Maxim Vengerov, Ray Chen , Salvatore Accardo , Dmitry Sitkovetsky, David Aaron Carpenter , Denis Kozhukhin, Nareh Arghamanyan, Julia Zilberquit, Constantine Orbelian, Andreas Ottensamer and others.

Mr. Shor is the Composer-In-Residence for the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Academie, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and Salomé Chamber Orchestra. In 2017-2021 he is also a composer in residence of the Malta International Piano Festival and Competition, as well as the preliminary competitions leading up to the final competitions in Malta (in 2018 and 2021).

Mr. Shor’s works have been performed by many internationally acclaimed soloists and ensembles, for example (in alphabetical order), Salvatore Accardo, Anna Aglatova, Boris Andrianov, Nareh Arghamanyan, Sergey Babayan, Alexander Bouzlov, Guy Braunstein, David Aaron Carpenter, Ray Chen, Veronika Dzhioeva, Fauré Quartett, Andrey Gugnin, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Haik Kazazyan, Freddy Kempf, Khachaturian Trio, Roman Kim, Pavel Koleskikov, Denis Kozukhin, Jan Lisitski, Sabine Meyer, Nikita Mndoyants, Aiman Mussakajayeva, Andreas Ottensamer, Vadim Repin, Alexander Romanovsky, Yuri Rozum, Alexander Rudin, Karen Shahgaldyan, Denis Shapovalov, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Maxim Vengerov, Ingolf Wunder, Yuri Zhislin, Nikolaj Znaider and many others.

He also holds a Ph.D. in mathematics.
