The beauty, excitement and limitless of people from different cultures defines the word cosmopolitan and, definitely, describes this particular trio. The Cosmopolitan Trio is formed by three strong and wonderful soloists, each with a very different background. An Austrian violinist, Elisabeth Kropfitsch; an Indian pianist, Marialena Fernandes; and a Korean cellist, Meehae Ryo, has come together, at last to share the ideas and the wonder of international sophistication in classical music. Together, with their flawless technical virtuosity, unique style, and crystal clear music, will cross the borders and touch the hearts of many people around the world.
The trio has been connected by IMK (Verein fuer Internationale Musik und Kulturfoerderung in Wien www.schwingungen.at ), a non-profit organization founded in 1992 by Sonja Steindl. Each of the three soloists’ has grabbed IMK’s attention with their talents and style, which have lead to their elegant performance and captivating music. IMK saw the opportunity to achieve their main goal: “to build bridges with music and overcome seeming contrast of young and old, East and West, and Tradition and Modern”.
The trio performed with different orchestras such as North Czech philharmonic orchestra in Smetana hall, Orchestra Sinfonica di Rome in Auditorium della concilazione, and in Como International music festival.
